UB Instant Play
One of the best poker clients in the world, UB has made taken several strides as of late to repair their reputation and put the fun back into gaming. And with all of the buzz surrounding instant play poker clients, what better way to stay in the consumer conspicuousness than to push a system that allows users to play from nearly any computer with an Internet connection?
While UB claims that this is an “instant play” poker system, it does require a small download. When you click instant play, you will be asked to download an 18mb “UB Update”, which will apparently allow you to play instantly each time afterward.
The lobby is attractive and polished, one of the cleaner interfaces we've come across. The tables themselves are well crafted and simple to understand. The graphics are more lush than your typical poker instant play client – maybe it has something to do with the aforementioned download. The action is quick and clean, and is generally up to par with what you'd expect from one of the bigger name Internet companies. There is a built in hand-history system, a feature which is sometimes missing from other instant play clients.
While there is plenty of action to be found at the lower stakes, players with a thirst for bigger pots will often find themselves waiting for a table to fill up. If you're a low-stakes shark, say below $200 NL, or if you enjoy heads-up action, then you'll have a decent chance at cashing in.
Because of its Java base, the UB instant play system opens up the doors for players who operate outside of the Windows/PC realm. Users sporting Linux or Mac operating systems will be able to sit at the tables just like the other players, which could bring a fresh infusion of cash into the games.
When all is said and done, the UB instant play client is a pretty good system. It is, however, hobbled by both a lack of user support and the fact that there is a small download required. However, the negatives can be outweighed by UB's 110% up to $1,100 first time depositors bonus. This is one of the bigger promotions available among the reputable Internet giants, allowing dedicated newbies to earn a coveted instant double up!
